Advance your clinical training with this immersive 150-hour module. Meeting on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, this module is evenly divided into two 75-hour sections designed to build your practical therapeutic skillset. The curriculum focuses heavily on foundational individual and group counseling skills, dedicating 20 hours to core individual techniques—including three hours on vocational skills and 10 hours on foundational counseling theories—alongside 25 hours focused on group dynamic and implementation skills. Students will dive into the theories of human development as they relate to substance use, alongside a critical 25-hour block on counseling special populations, which features 15 hours dedicated strictly to cultural competency and humility. The module also prepares you for complex clinical scenarios by covering family and significant other communication (including family-focused relapse prevention), integrated care for co-occurring mental health and physical disorders, and crisis management with a dedicated focus on suicide risk monitoring in OASAS programs. Finally, a robust 15-hour segment focuses entirely on return-to-use and symptom recurrence prevention, equipping you with the specialized group counseling skills needed to support long-term client resilience.
