Nursing Bridge Course I

This course is designed for students requesting re-admission to the OCCC nursing program and for LPNs
requesting advanced standing to NUR 102. Students may register for this class after they have received
notification that they have been accepted into the Nursing program. Content includes current nursing
program policies, medication calculations, nursing process, legal and ethical issues in nursing, review of
infection control and review of selected nursing skill procedures. There will be graded quizzes, skill
performance evaluations and Nursing Care Plans. Students must be able to demonstrate satisfactory
performance of these skills (with 2 tries) prior to the end of the course. Students must achieve a grade of
90% on Clinical Calculations skill exam (CCSE) Level 1 to enter NUR 102, a grade of 95 on CCSE Level
II to enter NUR 201, and a grade of 100 on CCSE Level III to enter NUR 202. You will have 2 tries for the
CCSE. Calculators are permitted and will be provided. All students are required to purchase Schuster:
Concept Mapping 4 th Edition and Mulholland: The Nurse, The Math, The Meds Drug Calculations using
Dimensional Analysis 4 th Edition. Successful completion of this course is required for registration into the
nursing program. Students must attend all classes.
