Program Overview
Thanks in part to a Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) grant from the Orange County Workforce Development Board, the College engages out-of-school and unemployed youth to reconnect them with educational and workforce systems.
The YEP program is held on the SUNY Orange Middletown campus and offers youth ages 16-24 the following:
- Preparation for the High School Equivalency test - GED®
- Assistance with applying for the High School Equivalency Regents Exam Pathway
- Workplace soft skills training
- Opportunities to attain credentials in Customer Service and Sales, Healthcare, and Security Guard
- The option of paid work experience or employment assistance
This unique program provides case management, employment counseling, and small group instruction that will serve as a stepping stone toward achieving higher education and establishing career goals.
Eligibility Requirements
- A youth aged 16 to 24
- A resident of Orange County New York
- High School Non-Completer
- Underemployed or unemployed
